Navotas city, dubbed as the Philippine's fishing capital city probably because it is an important fishing community. Around 70% of the city's population derives it's livelyhood on fishing and its related industry. Related fishing industries such as fish trading, fish producing and net mending are some of them. The city is prone to flooding during rainy season and high tide probably because it is close to the shorelines of the Manila bay. Being so, it is suitable for almost all kinds of vessels which makes it conducive to the fishing industry. It is famous for patis (fish sauce) and bagoong (shrimp paste).
